We have a passion for Home Staging and a passion for helping Senior Citizens. Combine those two things and you have – our Staging for Seniors Specialty Service. Someone might wonder why in all of our years of staging would we be so specific to one group? The truth is, we have staged many properties for Seniors because we also provide the services of decluttering, packing, unpacking and settling in. We find that they like the consistency of having the same people come to their home. We started The Art of Order after Anne and I both downsized our parents homes and realized there was a need for specialized staging services.
So what is the big deal? What do we do differently for our elderly clients? First off, we have a helpful and non-judgemental mindset. We understand the issues that come up and have the experience to deal with them. Some seniors get along just fine, however, we meet many folks who have challenges like decreased mobility, safety issues, fatigue and a sense of being overwhelmed. There sometimes can be difficulty with communication when there is hearing loss, decreased vision or frustration with the ever-changing onslaught of technology. It takes time and care to go through the process with them and make sure they get the best result possible and, at the same time, have the order of operations and timing of the transitions work in their favour.
It is so often that there are family and friends that are available to help, which is great. Unfortunately, what can happen is that since they have been helping out their parents for an extended amount of time they get overwhelmed with the emotional and physical part of downsizing their loved ones. Our goal is to support the entire family and make it easier for everyone by respectfully providing guidance wherever needed and by efficiently sharing the appropriate contacts for resources to help them deal with a lifetime of belongings. We have a wonderful roster of trusted partners who can handle everything from selling antiques to painting and all the way down to junk removal. Anne and I pride ourselves on our ability to avoid sending things to the landfill as much as possible. Helping sort, edit and prepare donations is one of our specialties.
Our approach is one of compassion with an enjoyment of making the most of what our clients already own. We have several Staging and Decluttering packages that work perfectly for all of the different types of scenarios as they are designed to be flexible and affordable. We offer a no obligation, no pressure half-hour consultation where we listen to what the client’s needs and wants are and talk to them about how we would approach things. If they like what they hear and feel good about moving forward we simply refine a plan and get to work when the time is right. It is an honour to be invited into someone’s home and we make sure we treat each and every client like we would our own parents and family. Nothing thrills us more than getting a home expertly prepared for sale and seeing people through a busy and often stressful time.
